Together with the full-time faculty of all other departments at Texas Tech University - School of Medicine -
Amarillo the faculty of this department of surgery participates in the multi-speciality group practice known as
University Physicians of Texas Tech Amarillo.
- The offices of University Physicians / Surgical Practice are located together with other
specialities within the group at 1400 Coulter Road, Amarillo, Texas.
- Patients are seen by appointment between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Appointments may be secured by
calling (806) 354 - 5696. Non emergency appointments can usually be secured within a 3-5days.
- All major health plans are accepted and credit card, check and cash payments are acceptable for services rendered.
Appropriate financial arrangements are made available on an individual basis when applicable.
- Wheel chair access is available and all disabilities are accommodated.
Texas Tech University School of Medicine has over 25 years presence in Amarillo, Texas. During these years, the
school has trained third and fourth year medical students in the Departments of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine,
Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery. Residency programs are established in the Family
Medicine, Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn and Pediatrics Departments.
The Texas Tech Medical Center expanded to include the Schools of Allied Health in 1994 and Pharmacy in 1996. The
Allied Health program provides curriculum for degrees in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. The Pharmacy
Program offers students a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. These medically based
programs bring a wealth of research, technology and highly trained professionals to Amarillo and the Panhandle
Faculty in the Surgery Department at Texas Tech provide expertise in all aspects of general surgery, trauma and
critical care. The physician faculty functions as a small group practice to ensure excellent continuity of care.
Patients are transferred to other facilities or physicians only when medical condition warrants such a transfer. You
will have a chance to get to know your physician on a more personal basis.
In addition to the benefits of a small group practice, the physician faculty of the other departments within Texas
Tech work together as a larger multispecialty group practice. This pool of physicians assures that almost all of your
medical needs can be met within one system. The academic practice which includes medical students and residents allows
more concentrated attention to each patients' specific needs while remaining on the "cutting edge" of medical advances.
The students, residents and attending physicians work together as a team evaluating each case.
To enhance the quality of care, our physicians have access to and contribute to vast resources of research and
educational materials, some of the most advanced technology available, and a strong network of physicians. Texas Tech
Medical Center accepts almost all insurances.
