The Health Sciences Center medical library is a regional resource for physicians, students, and other health care professionals. Staffed by two full-time time librarians and five assistants, the library houses a collection of 45,000 bound volumes, subscriptions to 350 top journals as well as over 2,000 electronic journals, and extensive audiovisual materials. The library gives users access to the Internet and all its resources as well as on-line computer programs such as the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE.
The library's computerized catalog can access the El Paso collection and holdings at the three other Texas Tech campuses. Search capabilities and interlibrary affiliations extend the resources of the library throughout a five-star area and to the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. The El Paso library serves an international clientele as the major health information resources.
