Audiology student works with a patient to perform an exam

Audiologists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals with hearing or balance problems. Audiologists can also work related to prevention of hearing and balance problems, in addition to being involved with research in the field. Work settings can vary from hospitals, schools, private practices, industry, medical offices, and universities. In these settings, audiologists are able to work with patients from birth throughout adulthood. Additional information about the profession of audiology can be found through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association website and through the American Academy of Audiology website.
