Office of the Chief Information Officer
Message from the CIO
Deploying innovative technology solutions has been a significant part of the history
of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC). Information Technology (IT)
has played an essential role in connecting our six campuses into an integrated system,
which has provided critical clinical and academic services throughout the underserved
areas of West Texas. Although the historical contributions have been significant,
the strategic importance of IT to the Institution's community has never been greater.
The TTUHSC has adopted a collaborative governance model that aligns IT with the overall
mission and goals of the Institution. The IT Board of Directors includes TTUHSC's
President, Deans, and Vice Presidents. The Board sets the overall strategic technology
direction, defines IT priorities, and approves the IT policies of the Institution.
Under the leadership of the CIO, the Information Technology Division works with students,
technical and academic advisory councils to identify operational strategies consistent
with the strategic direction and priorities set by the IT Board of Directors.
In collaboration with our constituents and the private sector, the IT Division has
deployed a robust portfolio of IT solutions and services that support the academic,
research, and service mission of the TTUHSC. These solutions and services are provided
in an efficient, effective, and customer focused manner by our employees in the Technology
Services, Information Services, and Health.Edu departments.
The IT Division understands that emerging technologies, security threats, and a growing
demand for information technology services creates many opportunities and challenges.
We are eager to continue to partner with the Institution, alumni and friends, and
the private sector to ensure our systems and services provide value and continue to
meet the needs of the HSC community.
