About the TTUHSC @ Permian Basin
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin is part of a
seven campus regional system that serves the greater Permian Basin area with three
schools located on campus providing higher medical education in Health Professions,
medicine and nursing.
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin was established
in 1979 and began operations in the basement of Medical Center Hospital.
The School of Health Professions welcomed its first class to the Permian Basin in
the fall of 1994. The program offers a master degrees in the Physical Therapy program
and the Physician Assistant program that is independently located on the Midland College
The School of Medicine provides residency and fellowship training in the Permian Basin,
and will begin accepting third-year medical students in June 2009. The Texas Tech
Health Center opened the doors to its patient practice in June of 1999, which provides
increased access to primary and specialized health care for patients of the Permian
Basin. This 81,374 square foot facility houses patient-related services on the first
and second floors and administrative offices and academic programs occupy the third
floor. The Texas Tech Physicians of the Permian Basin provide patient care in Family
and Community Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology,
Pediatrics and Psychiatry through facilities located in Odessa and Midland. For more

The School of Nursing at the Permian Basin is committed to providing innovative education,
focusing on primary care and rural health, at both the baccalaureate and master's
levels. The most recent addition to the School of Nursing is the second degree web-based
accelerated baccalaureate nursing degree to those who have a previous bachelor's degree
in another field.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin currently operates
21 WIC clinics located in Andrews, Big Lake, Crane, Ft. Stockton, Iraan, Kermit, McCamey,
Midland, Monahans, Odessa, Ozona, Pecos, Saragosa and Stanton.
