Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Lubbock

Application Deadline | September 24, 2025
Next Start Date | July 1, 2026

Residency training is the foundation of your subsequent career in obstetrics and gynecology, so choosing a program that can prepare you to become a competent and compassionate specialist is obviously an important step. Our program at TTUHSC offers an exceptional balance of both obstetrics and gynecology along with appropriate exposure to the various subspecialties.

Residents learn to do vaginal breech deliveries, forceps deliveries, VBAC’s and other aspects of operative obstetrics that are included in only a few training programs nationally. We hope our web site will stimulate you to learn more about who we are and what we do here at Texas Tech. We extend to you an invitation to visit us in person and learn more.

Certification

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) provides certification and maintenance of certification in obstetrics and gynecology and in the subspecialty areas of maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and gynecologic oncology. Please visit ABOG for information about the board's requirements for board certification.

The ABOG bulletin is the official statement of requirements in effect for the examination and can be viewed here

Visit ABOG for additional information including downloads for learning guides, subspecialty forms, fellowship programs and applications.

Application Guidelines and Interview Process

Residency applications are received through Residency CAS Service from August through September. You are encouraged to start the application process as soon as possible. Please note that no final decision on selection can be made on an incomplete application. Submitting an acceptable application is the responsibility of the prospective resident. If your application is chosen by the Selection Committee you will be invited for interviews.

The first interviews are scheduled in November and December. Your interviews will be scheduled on Saturdays when the faculty is readily available.
