HEALTH AND HOPE: REACHING RURAL TEXANS TOGETHER

Bridging Gaps and Building Care

Your zip code shouldn't impact your health graphic

Cancer doesn’t care where you live—but too often, access to care does.

TTUHSC is changing that. Through the Rural Cancer Collaborative, we’re rewriting the playbook for how rural Texans get cancer prevention, early detection and research-backed treatment—right where they are. This is how we give every West Texan a real fighting chance.

The Reality of Access to Care for Rural Texas

Many must travel more than 300 miles to reach a National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Center.

22% of rural Texans are uninsured, limiting access to preventative health services.

ABOUT THE RURAL CANCER COLLABORATIVE

The Rural Cancer Collaborative is TTUHSC’s commitment to transforming cancer care in West Texas by investing state resources where they’re needed most. We’re expanding prevention, care and research programs across the region—so patients don’t have to travel far for expert, comprehensive care. By growing local talent and clinical expertise, partnering with regional hospitals and building up our clinical research infrastructure, we’re creating a future where rural Texans have real access to early detection, cuttingedge treatment and the kind of care that saves lives.
