Expanding Cancer Clinical Trials, Powered by West Texas Talent

World-renowned clinical trialist Dr. Thomas E. Hutson is leading TTUHSC’s charge to become a destination for cancer clinical research. He is actively recruiting and mentoring physicians across our region to build a strong pipeline of local trialists—bringing innovative, researchbacked treatments closer to patients. Through TTUHSC’s Clinical Research Institute, we’re expanding the infrastructure needed to support industry-sponsored clinical trials that meet the highest standards and reflect the needs of our communities.

World-Class Research, Rooted in West Texas

TTUHSC researchers are leading nationally recognized cancer research—right here in the communities they serve. Backed by funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT)—two of the most competitive and respected cancer research funders in the nation— our scientists are bringing high-impact discovery and innovation to West Texas. Their work is not only reshaping care through real-world, translational research; it’s also training the next generation of cancer scientists and building the research and development infrastructure our region needs for long-term impact.
